Dutchman and his Gold mine
Others
may have found the mine
Lost Dutchman Mine
Page 5. The Others
I am not going to go into great detail here.
on the Last page I will list websites who have writen about the
Dutchman mine. It's hard to weed out fact from fable. Cecil
spent years trying to weed out anything that was not important or could
be just rumors.
Cecil told of different people who may have found
the Dutchmans mine. There were Solders, three I think Cec said,
who had left the service and were crossing the Superstions headed to
gold field to see if they could find jobs at the mines there. On
the way they found something, aparently the Dutchman and had tailings
(tailing are rock picked from a mine that can still have gold in
them) anyway later the Solders were found dead near Weavers
Needle. They had been shot.
The Apaches Showed Dr. Thorn a place and told him he could take all the
gold he could carry. Thorn had been blind folded, but he decided
to go back on his own and look for the spot the Apaches took him
to. Thorn was killed. The place the Indians had shown Thorn
aparently was close to the Needle.
Geronimo an Apachie leader was placed in prison in flordia, He offered
the Government a million in gold if they would let him return to his
home. He said he knew of a cave in the Superstions where he had
gold stashed. Could this be the same gold the Spanish had left on
the floor of a cave.
Dr. Ruth was
finally killed. he interests me because when I was
young I met a older fellow who had worked for Dr. Ruth's
Son
Erwin . I asked Ralph if he
thought Ruth had actually found the mine. Ralph said he didn't know
much about it. But he said there was talk Dr. Ruth had found
something important. Ruth had a map, the map is not of drawings in the
Superstitions, but of an area called Red Mountain and Arizona
Dam Butte. My cousin had several maps, one showed a flour gold vein and
others showed different areas. The maps were so Spanish miners
could find different areas that the Peralta were working. Not
necessarily only the Mine called the lost
Dutchman. So it is possible in the case of the Ruth
map. Dr. Ruth had
more than one map and the famous ruth map
is not where the mine is but only showing one of the Peralta diggings,
and they had several,
gold was not found in all of them. One reason I point this out is
because
the body of Ruth was not found in the Red
Mountain area. Ruth's body
was found in bolder canyon closer to weavers needle. The Quarter
Circle U ranch where Ruth stayed just before his death, would indicate
possibly the mine was in
the Weavers Needle area.
That the map found on Ruth was not the only map Ruth had.
The maps Cecil had were not just one map but a searies of maps.
the first maps showed you how to get to the Superstitions.
some were of
sky lines, but the last map showed several things includeing a mine
with two shafts. also a slone building which could explain the
foundation.
Dearing was
killed along with about 125 people looking for the mine, over a period
of quite a few years.
A movie crew was filming in the Superstitions. A
camera man goto looking around in his off time. three Indians showed up
at his motel room and told him to stay out of the area he had been
looking around in. he had stumpled across an old burial
ground. and promised the Indians he wasnt going to enter it. he
would only look for gold, they told him , not to look for anything stay
with the movie people.
A boy hunting for
deer must have found the mine.
